A stone head from the cathedral

A stone head from the cathedral
The first cathedral, before the fire of 1272, was built in the Romanesque style. It was thus little decorated and less ornate than it is today. The present splendid Gothic choir, with its two eastern towers, were not part of the original building. Inside, the cathedral was originally richly decorated with a variety of wall paintings of scenes from the Bible.

This stone head came from the original cathedral building and was found in the early 20th century in the yard of the present Kongsgård upper secondary school.
