New ways to move
Today, in the 2000s, we get around in very different ways from those who lived in Stavanger in the past
YOGA MAT
In the 2000s, yoga becomes important to Annamaria Gutierrez – helping her to maintain her physical and mental balance. “My mat has absorbed a lot of sweat and tears.”
ELECTRIC SCOOTER
Susanne Wærholm Bærheim often gets where she's going on her electric scooter. “I love the flexibility and freedom it gives me”, says Susanne. In their first four years on Stavanger’s streets, the green Ryde scooters are used more than four million times.
SKATEBOARD
Rune Feyling was one of the first people in Stavanger to ride a skateboard. When he started, skateboarding was illegal. Now, in the 21st century, skateboarding has become the people's sport. Retailers Session, based in Stavanger, make millions from selling boards and clothing.
CITY BIKE
“The threshold for hiring an electric city bike is very low. It offers an efficient way of getting around, and is more fun than taking the bus”, says Nina Steinhaug Ådnøy.
