About the Art
Nils Henrik composed the music for "My Stavanger." The music is meant to create a unique atmosphere in each room while providing a cohesive thread throughout the exhibition. Not unlike the soundtrack of a film. The soundscape includes various elements: sounds from nature and society of the past, sounds from objects you see in the exhibition, and voices from people of the past and present. We also hear a string instrument evolving from a medieval harp to an electric guitar. More than 150 speakers are installed in the walls and ceilings to create live sound in all the rooms, each with its own unique sound. This installation is entirely unique and specially designed for "My Stavanger." At the end of the exhibition, you can also participate in shaping some of the sounds yourself.
