Local pottery
In the general store, luxury items are displayed side-by-side with locally-produced goods. This vessel is probably made in Sandnes by the Swede Christoffer Zimmermann (1735–1812). Zimmermann is regarded as a pioneer of ceramics in Rogaland and was the first recognised potter in Sandnes. The vessel marks the establishment of Sandnes as an industrial pottery town, exploiting local clays as its raw material.
