Owls at the Nature Lab

Join us for a creative and educational owl activity for the whole family!

At the Nature Lab, you can take part in two fun activities: owl pellet dissection and an owl mask workshop.

Owl Pellet Dissection

Owl pellets are strange, grey-brown lumps that you may find while walking in the woods. They contain the undigested remains of an owl’s food, which the owl regurgitates instead of passing through its digestive system.

By carefully opening an owl pellet, you can discover what the owl has eaten and learn more about its fascinating life and habitat.

Owl Masks

At our workshop, children and adults can create their own owl masks using feathers, paper, colours and other exciting materials.

Let your imagination take flight and create an owl that is uniquely yours!

 

 

While you make your owl mask, our educator will share fascinating facts about these mysterious birds. Why can owls fly almost silently? How do they hunt in the dark? And why are they considered some of nature’s most fascinating predators?

 

Suitable for families with children of all ages. No prior knowledge is required.

Children have free admission to the museum.
