Toys tell
Norwegian Children's Museum
The toys in the exhibition tell about the factories where they were made, the shops where they were sold and the era and society of which they were a part.
Toys have many shapes and are made out of many materials. They all have a story to tell. Do you remember the toys from Opstad (workhouse), where the Opstad Horse’ was made? It’s now called Åna Prison. The inmates still make toys.
Do you remember the shop-window displays at Christmas time? On Saturday evenings, at Hustvedt’s shop in Østervåg, you could see a train chugging around a track that went from one shop window to the other.
Through sound, play, pictures and activities, and no matter what your age, you can immerse yourself in this Exhibition.
