Ocean Day

A day for knowledge, curiosity, and enthusiasm for all the amazing things found in the sea!

27. Apr 2025 KL. 11:00 - 15:00

Ocean Day is back!

Would you like to see Norway’s most poisonous fish, the world’s longest animal, or get up close with marine vomit (Didemnum vexillum), the invasive sea squirt that has made its way to Stavanger? Can you name the different types of seaweed found along the shore, and do you know the difference between a snail shell and a mussel shell? Would you like to take part in dissecting a shark or a squid?

You can learn about all this and much more at Ocean Day in the museum garden at Stavanger Museum on Sunday, April 27th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The event is free and suitable for all!

Ocean Day is a collaboration between the Natural History Department at MUST and these great organizations:

  • Wetland Visitor Center Jæren

  • Norwegian Zoological Society, Rogaland branch

  • Stavanger Diving Club

  • Project Baseline

  • Lundsvågen Nature School
