Bunad café
Get help with sewing, bunad care, and bunad-related questions
Are You Interested in Bunads?
Do you sew or embroider your own bunad? At the Bunad Café at Stavanger Museum, you can get guidance from experienced instructors on various techniques used in the Rogaland bunad tradition. Bring your own project or try your hand at a sample piece.
Nordaker Bunader sells sample kits for the different embroidery patterns used in the embroidered Rogaland bunads for NOK 200. Each kit includes fabric with a pre-drawn pattern, yarn, and a needle.
The event is free of charge, and everyone is welcome.
Each Bunad Café focuses on a theme related to bunads and traditional folk costume traditions. One of the knowledgeable members of the Bunad Network will give a short presentation of approximately 15 minutes about the background and traditions connected to the theme. The presentations will be in Norwegian. Occasionally, we also bring out and display objects from the museum collections.
You are welcome to continue your handicraft work during the presentations.
